Aged care

Aged care at home, explained simply.

For older Australians who want to stay at home, and the families doing the research. Start with the question that sounds like yours.

Private care or government-funded care?

Private care is the simplest door. You choose the support, we agree the rate, and care can start quickly. There is no assessment and no waitlist. Many people use private care while they wait for an assessment, or for a short stretch after hospital.

Government-funded care is means-tested and assessed. It can cover part of the cost, but it takes time and paperwork. Support at Home and Home Care Packages sit in this lane. We can explain how our services fit alongside either pathway, and we will tell you when a question belongs with My Aged Care.

What we can help with at home

Personal care, domestic assistance, meal preparation, shopping, gardening, transport, social work and nursing. Most people start with one or two services and add more later. You are not locked into a package.

What we will not promise

We will not tell you that you are eligible for a government program before an assessor has decided. We will not promise a contribution amount or a wait time. If we do not know, we will say so and point you to the body that does.

Start with My Aged Care

For an assessment, call My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 or visit myagedcare.gov.au. Then call us to talk through what support would look like in practice.

Common questions

If your question is not here, call us. A real person answers.

Do I need an assessment to use you?

No. Private care does not need an assessment. If you want government-funded support, the assessment is handled through My Aged Care.

Can you help while I wait for an assessment?

Yes. Private care can start now and change later when your funding is settled. Tell us what you need and we will be clear about the cost.

Are you an approved aged care provider?

Ask us to confirm what your funding pathway requires before you book. We support older Australians privately, and we will tell you honestly what we can and cannot do under a government program.

What is the difference between Support at Home and Home Care Packages?

Support at Home is the newer program replacing Home Care Packages over time. The rules and timing have changed more than once. Check myagedcare.gov.au for the current position, then call us to talk through the practical side.

Can family be involved?

Yes, with your consent. We can include family in planning, handover and changes, while keeping you in charge of the decisions.
